The Pitra Dosh Shanti Pooja is conducted to mitigate these adverse effects and to honor and pacify the souls of the departed ancestors. It is typically performed by a qualified priest or Brahmin, following prescribed rituals and mantras.

The ceremony often involves offerings such as rice, sesame seeds, water, flowers, and incense to the ancestors. The priest recites Vedic hymns and performs specific rituals to invoke the blessings of the ancestors and seek their forgiveness for any past wrongdoings or neglect.
